About & Services

Community Justice Alternatives of Durham Region is a thirty-five (35) year old non-profit agency funded by the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and Ministry of Children and Youth Service, assisted by donations from local churches, community groups, individuals and businesses.

The Agency administers six programs:

Victim-Offender Reconciliation Program (V.O.R.P)

Durham Community Mediation Program (D.C.M.P)

Conflict, Anger, Learning Communication, and Mediation (C.A.L.M)

Diverse Reintegration Youth Program (D.R.Y.P)

Office of the Independent Police Director (OIPRD)

These programs contribute toward the prevention of crime and the development of safer community by addressing social issues and the rehabilitation of offenders.

We operate with a staff of 6 employees, approximately 20 volunteers and annually handle hundreds of clients in the Durham Region.  In addition to our ongoing programs we offer various services to the community.  Ask about our Mediation Training Service – we offer recognized training for Community Mediation and Restorative Justice Mediation.  We are also happy to tailor training to meet specific needs.  For training enquiries please contact
